To attend to the personal needs of, and provide physical assistance to disabled and older people with support and care needs (service users) within residential care establishments, day care establishments or in their own homes.

Tasks required by this job include: Assisting and enabling service users with activities of daily living – washing, dressing, toileting, mobilising, eating, activities, etc, Following direction of nurse in charge in carrying out care, record keeping and reporting.

Serving meals to service users at table or in bed, and assists with feeding if required; Generally assisting with service users in their overall comfort and well-being; Providing interest and activities to stimulate and engage the service user; Monitoring service users conditions by taking temperature, pulse, respiration and weight, and contributes to record keeping; Liaising with professional staff in carrying out care plans etc.
