Business Group Accounting within Control forms part of our corporate function that is responsible for providing support services for all other ScottishPower businesses.
This role sits within the Control and Administration Team as part of the Group Financial Accounting (GFA) team reporting to and supporting the Group Accounting Manager (GAM).
As part of a large team of other accounting specialists to deliver key accountabilities on behalf of the SPW group and the main divisions: Energy Wholesale and Retail, Energy Networks and Renewables plus the Corporate business - in total comprising over 40 legal entities; working collaboratively across the wider GFA team to deliver the tasks within the remit of this function.
The team works closely with our IBE Control colleagues in Bilbao and assists in providing a link between the IBE Group Control Accounting and Management Processes team and other members of the SPW Control team across the business.

Purpose A rare opening has arisen for a commercially aware, highly motivated qualified accountant looking to kick start your career in a new direction with the utility of the future.
You will be involved with a variable nature of activities including accurately reflecting existing or new business processes within the group financial accounts, ensuring that appropriate ledger structures are in place across the ScottishPower group and that any technical accounting developments are incorporated.
In addition designing and maintaining centralised control processes for the general ledger and related accounting modules for SPW to ensure that accurate financial information flows into the Iberdrola group reporting and is compliant with all relevant accounting and legal requirements.

This is a critical role to mitigate any risks to the integrity of the ledger and imperative to support this team to complete all relevant group accounting tasks.
Responsibilities This role covers a broad range of activities to ensure delivery of key objectives specifically supporting delivery of accurate reflection of existing or new business processes within the group financial accounts.

As a Group Accountant you will become a strong ambassador for our Control Team working on a SAP platform with a good working knowledge of statutory reporting processes to be an integral link to the wider Iberdrola Group Control team in Spain; an appreciation for the Spanish culture will be advantageous due to the close working relationships.
